How are my frequent traveler rewards covered under the SmartBunny USA Plus (trip protection) policy?
The company does not insure the cash value of any travel costs that have been booked and paid for with points, Air Miles, Aeroplan, or any other type of travel reward program.
With the SmartBunny USA Plus policy, we do offer coverage of up to $75 for the fees associated with re-banking your points, if applicable, as many reward program providers will allow points to be refunded. Check with your program administrators for their policy on changes and cancellations made to travel booked with their points or programs.
What does the policy wording say about frequent traveler point coverage?
FREQUENT TRAVELER REWARD BENEFIT
"We will reimburse You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, for the cost charged to re-deposit frequent traveler reward(s) into Your traveler/member account, provided that frequent traveler reward(s) were utilized to purchase the Travel Arrangements for Your Trip and Your Trip must be cancelled prior to the Scheduled Departure Date due to any of the covered Unforeseen Reasons or Other Covered Events shown in Your Trip Cancellation benefit section.
These benefit(s) will not duplicate any other benefits payable under the policy or any coverage(s) attached to the policy."
